Hello! My name is Dan Kaminsky, and I am an editor and DIT.
As a film student at RIT, I edited many different projects, with the biggest ones being two capstone films and three workshop films. "Resurrection Story" is a dark and slow drama, "Sink-Hole" and "Blue Eyes," are quirky sci-fi films, "Blood and Books" is a neon-soaked noir, and "Solace in the Woods," is a contemplative doc. I love to experiment with different styles of film and work with directors who have unique visions. Fast-paced, effect-heavy films are a lot of fun to edit, and I also appreciate working on a piece that requires patience in the edit.
I am someone who loves to learn: I am constantly trying out different software and equipment, watching and analyzing films, and working with people who have fresh perspectives. I also really enjoy helping out my peers on their projects. I am fluent in Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Davinci Resolve, and have lots of experience in the frustrating process of moving between them. My work as DIT includes four capstone films, where I put a lot of work into making sure the editor would have high quality and well-organized proxy media to work with.
Working for the New York Film Academy's Summer Camp at Harvard, I helped teenagers learn how to edit in Premiere Pro. I got a lot of joy out of helping the students who wanted to do more than just the basics and try something unique. As an intern at Johnson Controls, I edited together webinars and short ads in Premiere, and would use After Effects to create a variety of Motion Graphics.
